Life better with a therapist.

Having kids is so damn hard. Having kids with YouTube is even harder.

I never thought I’d be sending my 10-year-old to a therapist. Ever. Honestly, I thought people only sent their kids to therapy when bad things happened to them. But, nothing bad had happened to my kid. Except normal life. And YouTube. Ffs, YouTube.

I mean, I get it. YouTube is helpful… and so addicting. YouTube has helped me change a fuse on my car, get a stuck DVD out of a car player, and also has entertained me with hours of junk food videos while swearing off carbs.

But, my daughter now needs therapy because of YouTube. And me. Since I’m the one who let her watch YouTube.

So I did the best thing for her by not taking away YouTube. I let her have access to YouTube AND I sent her to a therapist. Because, life. And this life has YouTube and other confusing things.

Her therapist helped me understand that therapy isn’t a bad thing for kids. It’s actually a really, really good thing. And the younger they start, the easier it is for them to cope with life and the crazy things swirling around inside it.

And that’s when I signed myself up, too.

I love therapy. I love what it’s doing for my kid. And for me.

We’re both learning about self confidence and boundaries and not to watch stupid shit on YouTube. But, if we do, and we don’t understand what just happened, then we talk about it.

It’s better to talk, than to stay up all night worrying about it.

Life is so much better with a therapist. Now I’m wondering if I can go every day…

  1. I agree:). Life is so much better with a therapist. I see a therapist too and my son does as well. I am very thankful my therapist and psychiatrist. They have helped me tremendously over the years.
